Well… this is a bit embarrassing!
I’ve realised I haven’t written anything on here for absolutely ages.
Not because I’ve had nothing to say — quite the opposite! There always seems to be something going on at Dydh Da, and somehow writing a blog post has ended up at the bottom of the very long list of things I should be doing.
So I thought… sod it. Let’s start again!
If you’ve been into the shop recently, you’ll know that Dydh Da is still very much doing its thing.
There are always new bits and pieces appearing, lovely things turning up from local makers, gifts that I definitely don’t need but somehow end up buying for myself (oops don’t tell my husband!), and the usual mixture of things that make you go:
“Ooh, that’s lovely.”
or…
“What on earth is that?! but I need it.”
And honestly, that’s exactly how I like it.
I never really wanted Dydh Da to be one of those shops where everything is perfectly coordinated and you know exactly what you’re going to find before you walk through the door. Those of you that know me know how I like to move things around – and the shop fixtures!
I like a bit of random.
I like finding something a little bit different.
I like things made by actual people rather than something that’s been churned out by the thousand.
And I LOVE finding something that makes someone laugh (have you seen our socks lately?),
Because let’s face it, sometimes you don’t need another sensible gift.
Sometimes you need something a little bit weird.
So what are we up to?
Well… a bit of everything really!
There are lots of plans bubbling away behind the scenes, and I’m always thinking of new things to bring into the shop and new ways to make Dydh Da a place people actually want to pop into when they’re wandering around Padstow.
I’ll be sharing more of that on here rather than keeping it all in my head!
Expect shop news, new things, local makers, Cornish bits and pieces, gift ideas, behind-the-scenes stuff and probably the odd ramble that started off about one thing and somehow ended up somewhere completely different, just like this post!
Basically…
just more Dydh Da.
